Overview:
To provide education and administrative support for unit operations under the supervision of the Assistant Director and ensure effective and efficient implementation of the six key educational processes at the unit level and to assist in the implementation of designated centralized components of the key educational processes. The six key educational processes are: 1) orientation, 2) annual competence assessment, 3) preceptor orientation and development, 4) required training, 5) ongoing development, and 6) student affiliations.

Knowledge Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is a broad knowledge of nursing functions, specific knowledge of patient care activities on assigned unit(s) and knowledge of the 6 key educational processes.

Skills
Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is the ability to perform skills outlined on the staff nurse orientation pathway for assigned unit(s) and skills outlined on the decentralized educator orientation pathway.

Formal Education and Experience:
The formal education required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is a bachelor's degree in nursing and a current RN Texas license. A minimum of 2 years clinical nursing experience; additionally, a minimum of one year preceptor or educator experience is required. Proficiency in the use of micro-soft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Outlook) is a plus.
