Job Description and Responsibilities:

About Texas Childrens Hospital

Expanding upon its premier reputation in fetal and neonatal medicine, Texas Children's Hospital offers obstetrical care in partnership with St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital. With the addition of the Pavilion for Women, Texas Children's will be able to provide a full continuum of family-centered care to mothers and their babies, beginning before conception and continuing after birth. With high-risk births on the rise nationally, the Pavilion for Women will respond to the escalating need for obstetrical research and treatment, and will assure that mothers and their babies have access to the most advanced technologies and treatments available.

Position Summary

Overview:
Plan, evaluate, organize and implement physical therapy treatment programs in a developmentally and age appropriate manner.

Responsibilities:
Complete patient evaluations and reassessments; develop an individualized plan of care based upon evaluation/reassessment findings; develop measurable long and short-term goals; perform patient care and related activities; demonstrate advanced clinical competencies in the area of pelvic floor dysfunction, wound care, advanced electrical stimulation, biofeedback, pre and post partum exercises, manual therapy, neurogenic headache, advanced aquatics and NICU; communicate and collaborate with other members of the patient's interdisciplinary care team and coordinate treatment plan; monitor patient response to treatment intervention; recommend adaptive equipment; design and fabricate orthotic equipment/supplies and make recommendations on customized adaptive equipment; recommend termination of treatment when appropriate. Provide clinical support to assigned outpatient clinic or specialty program. Provide instruction/education to patients and families/caregivers. Document information in patient's medical record. Participate in staff and student development.

Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge and understanding of rehabilitative care of patients with acute and chronic diagnosis related to woman's health, pre and post partum conditions and knowledge of female anatomy at different life stages as well as knowledge of development from the ages of neonate through adulthood. Successful demonstration of the professional advanced competencies in the treatment of women's health required. Must be articulate, courteous and supportive in dealing with hospital, administrative and departmental personnel, patients and parents with ability to honor confidentiality; independently treat patients by developing and following the established therapy plan of care; demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; utilize basic office equipment such as fax, copier and PC.

Education, Experience and Licensure:
Degree in physical therapy, current Texas PT license (temp license acceptable) and two (2) years clinical experience in women's health required. CAPP certification or equivalent preferred.
