Position Summary

To effectively manage all business operations for the perioperative areas by identifying and facilitating process improvement, coordinating information systems, cost effectiveness in managing the materials management process, assisting with the education/professional growth of employees, and overseeing the accreditation processes.
Routine decisions include capital budget development, departmental direction forecasting, I.S., and materials management cost-benefit analyses
Manages business operations in conjunction with the Director so as to provide efficient processes/systems while maintaining expenses within 10% of budget .
Coordinates information and business system to improve overall function of the departments and hospital Coordinates the development and implementation of unit-based performance Improvement and accreditation processes and programs.
Provide leadership and oversite to effectively manage material resources and provide cost/benefit analysis to department Assists in the development of the leadership team and staff in their professional growth, knowledge, skills, so as to provide consistent levels of customer service and high quality patient care.

Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is knowledge of budgeting, issues in health care economics, which affect cost/quality assessments, and process improvement principles and applications.
Also requires extensive background knowledge in operating room management and clinical experience, AORN Standards of Practice, and AAMI guidelines for sterilization practices.

Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is proficiency in computer systems, patient care equipment, surgical equipment (e.g. ESU, OR tables and lights, drills, microscopes, etc.), sterilization equipment, and surgical instrumentation.

The formal education normally associated with completely satisfactory performance in this job is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelors degree. Requires current permit of registration with Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas. Requires perioperative clinical experience, which has provided opportunities to develop and demonstrate competencies in business practices. Minimum 5 years upper level relevant management experience
