Position Summary

Purpose:
Ensure high quality pathology laboratory services required to achieve timely, cost-effective, quality patient care through the coordination and supervision of daily operations in Anatomic Pathology, Microbiology and Blood Bank. Assist in financial management planning and oversight and work collaboratively with Assistant Directors of other laboratory areas.

Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of financial management, understanding of blood bank, microbiology, virology and anatomic pathology operations with an overall knowledge of clinical laboratory operations in a hospital setting required. Also requires a general knowledge of industry trends as they relate to technology, reimbursement by Medicaid/Medicare and government regulations for compliance in all aspects of laboratory operations. The ability to mentor, advise, influence and effect change to achieve a positive working environment, efficient operations and the highest level quality.

Education, Experience and Licensure:
B.S. in medical technology, MT/MLS (ASCP) certification with five (5) years technical work experience and five (5) years supervisory experience clinical lab operations required.
